Project Overview:

Australian Catholic University (ACU) is delivering a purpose-built STEM Centre of Excellence at its Mount Saint Mary Campus in Strathfield. The new facility will provide state-of-the-art teaching and research spaces, strengthen STEM education, and foster collaboration between the University, schools, industry, and the wider community. 

Captivate Consulting was engaged to develop and implement a comprehensive Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Strategy to support the project through its planning phase and helping ACU maintain strong relationships with students, staff, neighbouring residents, and the broader community. 

Objective:

The engagement strategy was designed to ensure key stakeholders were informed, engaged, and provided with meaningful opportunities to participate throughout the planning process.  

Our Role:

Captivate Consulting has led the development and delivery of the project’s Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Strategy, including: 

  • Developing a tailored Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Strategy  
  • Facilitating community information sessions and drop-in events  
  • Delivering student and staff engagement activities  
  • Supporting stakeholder engagement with neighbouring residents and community members   
  • Assisting in the preparation of the Community Resilience Plan for the Green Star accreditation process  
  • Providing ongoing stakeholder engagement advice as the project progresses  

Challenges:

Delivering a major education facility within an established university campus required balancing the needs of students, staff, neighbouring residents, and the broader community. The engagement program needed to build awareness of the project, respond to stakeholder questions, and establish trusted communication channels while supporting ACU’s long-term relationship with its community. 

Outcome:

Captivate delivered a proactive engagement program that helped build awareness of the project, foster positive stakeholder relationships, and create opportunities for meaningful community participation. Through early engagement, accessible communication, and responsive stakeholder management, the project established a strong foundation of trust
