Client:
Camden Council in partnership with Lew Keilar Graphic Facilitator
Project Overview:
Captivate was enlisted to facilitate workshops with the students at Narellan Public School featuring a graphic artist. The purpose of the workshop was to gather students’ perspectives on the future of Narellan, as part of the broader Project Narellan planning initiative.
Objective:
The primary objective of these sessions was to learn about primary school students’ thoughts and ideas regarding Narellan’s future. The aim was to tap into their creativity and gather insights on potential improvements and developments for the area.
Our Role:
Captivate’s role included facilitating the engagement sessions with students from different year levels. We worked closely with Lew Keilar, a specialist graphic facilitator to encourage students to share their unique insights and suggestions. These ideas covered a wide range of topics and through the process of graphic facilitation were able to be captured visually and creatively.
We were responsible for organising and summarising these ideas into a coherent report.
Challenges:
Challenges included:
- Ensuring active participation and engagement from students of varying ages
- Facilitating discussions to elicit valuable input from young participants.
- Organising and synthesising a diverse array of ideas and suggestions
Outcome:
The Engagement Outcomes Report compiled by Captivate highlights key findings from the sessions. It underscores the community’s need for diverse facilities, increased accessibility, and future developments, such as improved schools and enhanced transport connections. The report serves as a valuable resource for guiding the creation of a vibrant, inclusive, and forward-looking Narellan community, reflecting its youngest residents’ imaginative ideas and aspirations.
Why Captivate Consulting:
Our expertise in community engagement ensured that the sessions with primary school students were conducted effectively, fostering meaningful discussions and insights. Our ability to engage with students of varying ages ensured that even the youngest participants felt comfortable sharing ideas.
