Project Overview:

Over 18 months, Captivate managed  community engagement and notifications for the DC Feeders project on behalf of Next Rail.  Under contract with John Holland, Captivate had the responsibility for drafting and distributing community notifications and delivering various engagement activities with residents and  stakeholders. This project involved informing and engaging those potentially impacted by a power supply upgrade spanning the extensive Sydney Trains Network. The activities included the development of comprehensive communication plans, close co-ordination with Transport for NSW, local councils, and direct interactions with residents and stakeholders.

Objective:

The primary objective of the project was to ensure effective and transparent communication with the community and stakeholders who may have been affected by the power supply upgrade on the Sydney Trains Network. The project aimed to provide timely and accurate information, address concerns and foster a collaborative approach to minimise disruptions, enhance understanding, and maintain positive relationships with those impacted.

Our Role:

  • We were responsible, in partnership with NextRail and TfNSW, for creating and drafting notifications to keep the community and stakeholders informed about the power supply upgrade. These notifications were designed to be clear, informative, and inclusive.
  • We were responsible for the distribution of notifications, ensuring that they reach the intended recipients in a timely and effective manner.
  • We actively engaged with residents and stakeholders, addressing their inquiries, concerns, and feedback. This included direct interaction through various channels such as door knocks, phone calls and digital communication.
  • We maintained close communication with Transport for NSW, local councils, and other relevant authorities to ensure that all communication efforts align and that information is consistent and accurate.

Challenges:

  • Engaging with a diverse group of stakeholders, including residents, presents the challenge of tailoring communications to meet the needs and concerns of each group effectively.
  • Ensuring that information is delivered in a timely and accurate manner is crucial to maintain trust and transparency during the upgrade works.
  • Addressing concerns and inquiries from residents and stakeholders, particularly if there are disruptions or inconveniences caused by the upgrades, requires a proactive and responsive approach.

Outcome:

The project outcome led to effective communication with the community and stakeholders impacted by the power supply upgrade, minimising disruptions and fostering positive relationships.
