Project Overview:
Captivate Consulting has been engaged by Transport for NSW over a number of years to facilitate stakeholder workshops.
Workshops have included:
- Construction start-up workshops for Princess Highway Upgrade, Blacktown Bus Layover and the Cumberland Highway and Henry Lawson Drive Upgrade
- Road Network Plan workshops including Wakehurst Parkway, Sydney CBD and Western Sydney
The start-up workshops emphasised the importance of laying the groundwork for collaboration and establishing effective working relationships between different entities involved in each project.
The Road Network Plan workshops centred around the movement and place framework, including vehicle and pedestrian movements, parking provision, and location and links to public transport.
Objective:
The key objective across all workshops was to ensure the seamless initiation and execution of infrastructure upgrades and construction. Central to these objectives is establishing clear communication channels and comprehensive stakeholder engagement.
Primary goals included making sure all voices were heard and helping to align all parties with the project’s goals and expectations.

- Design and deliver engaging and effective workshops
- Meet the agreed workshop purpose and objectives while fostering effective teamwork and collaboration
- Reporting on workshop outcomes
Challenges:
Ensuring all stakeholders had an opportunity to be heard and facilitating divergent opinions and perspectives to ultimately come to outcomes acceptable to all stakeholders, while meeting the project brief.
Outcome:
Successful project initiation, effective collaboration, and positive stakeholder engagement. Captivate Consulting ensured that the projects were launched on a solid foundation by proactively addressing challenges such as stakeholder management complexities, regulatory compliance, and technical intricacies.
