Project Overview:
Willoughby City Council enlisted our services to write an Engagement Outcomes Report for the Edward Street and Penshurst Street South Improvement Project. Our role involved taking detailed notes during two community workshops, consolidating these notes with information gathered from an online survey and mapping exercises, and conducting an in-depth analysis of emerging themes. The final outcome was a comprehensive report that summarised community feedback across the engagement channels.
Objective:
The core objective of the project was to prepare an Engagement Outcomes Report that synthesized feedback from the community regarding the Edward Street and Penshurst Street South Improvement Project. The feedback will play a pivotal role in shaping the future improvements to place, with a focus on enhancing safety, environmental improvements, creating attractive public spaces, addressing traffic and parking challenges, and promoting active transport.
Our Role:
- We were responsible for attending two community workshops, listening to community feedback, taking notes, and ensuring that all relevant information was recorded.
- We consolidated the notes gathered from community workshops, combining them with data from the online survey and mapping exercises to create a comprehensive dataset.
- We conducted a detailed thematic analysis of the gathered information, identifying common themes, consensus points, and notable suggestions provided by the community.
- Our responsibility extended to synthesising the analysis findings into a well-structured and informative Engagement Outcomes Report that would serve as a valuable resource for the Willoughby City Council.
- In addition to the report, our design team developed a visual representation of the feedback by location, presented on an attractive map.
Challenges:
- Gathering and consolidating feedback from multiple forms of engagement and then analysing the themes across all.
- Thematic analysis of large datasets requires careful attention to detail to ensure that important insights and suggestions are accurately identified and addressed.
- Ensuring that the Engagement Outcomes Report is clear, concise, and effectively conveys the community’s input and feedback can be challenging, as it must serve as a valuable resource for decision-makers.
